Short Interventions for PTSD: Reconsolidating Traumatic Memories™ – The NLP VK/D Protocol

Richard M. Gray, PhD. - Assistant Professor, School of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies, Fairleigh Dickinson University

George V. Doerrbecker, LCSW, CSAC – Adjunct Instructor at School of Social Work Rutgers University and Deputy Chief Probation Officer (Ret.), U.S. Probation    Dept.

The workshop provides an overview of a brief treatment for PTSD: Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM™), also known as the Visual Kinesthetic Dissociation Protocol and the Rewind Technique.

The technique is notable for its lack of discomfort to the patient, implementation as a content-free intervention, its speed of operation and long term (anecdotal) efficacy. A case study, a review of the technique, a complete script of the procedure and an opportunity for discussion are provided.
